dirty details of usage rights

Pricing Framework Overview

When a hotel or company wants to license your existing images (not a custom shoot), the pricing depends on three primary factors:

  1. Usage rights (how and where the image will be used)

  2. Duration (how long they want to use it)

  3. Visibility & reach (how large the audience will be — e.g., a local boutique hotel vs. Marriott’s global campaign)

my pricing guide is based on this baseline:

  • $1,600–$4,200 for luxury hotels and resorts for 20–30 photos

  • $4,000–$12,000 for full property coverage

  • These are for custom shoots with full usage rights forever, which aligns with top-tier industry pricing standards.

When selling or licensing existing images (not shooting new ones), you generally:

  • Charge per image (for simplicity and fairness)

  • Offer discounts for bulk sets

  • Add multipliers for extended usage
